Internet Marketing for Real Estate Professionals

Dan Canfield

The internet is continuing to grow and is offering new tools to maximize the efforts of marketing strategies. Online marketing is often more effective than offline marketing and is strongly influenced by social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. A real estate professional can get ahead by utilizing some of these online methods of marketing.

Social networking sites are a good place to begin marketing yourself and the properties you are trying to sell. Twitter recently jumped onto the scene and is gaining a worldwide strong response. By creating a Twitter page users can continuously offer updates on properties and include links to gain traffic to personal or company websites. Photos can also be uploaded along with descriptions of what is on the market. Not only can users post efficient blurbs many times throughout the day, but they can also 'follow' others to gain more knowledge on topics of interest providing an educational aspect. Adding people will also significantly increase your list of 'followers' who will be the ones reading the posts. The more 'followers' you have on Twitter, the more exposure you have for your listings.

In addition to creating a Twitter account, a Facebook page is another important marketing tool. Used once for social networking amongst college students, Facebook has expanded into an online community of millions of people around the world in all industries. A business page can be created where current properties in the market can be featured. The user will be able to open it up to the vast community of people from all corners of the planet and be able to answer questions, schedule meetings with potential buyers, advertise open houses and create a diverse groups of 'friends' who can also act as a secondary marketing tool because they can tell their friends about your listings.

In these economic times it takes venturing into new means to complete a sale in the real estate market. By using these online resources it will put you ahead of those achieving sales the old fashioned way. Start today and create a Twitter and Facebook page and advertise through email by either placing the URL in a signature of outgoing mail or start by sending a friendly email to a contact list letting them know you have sailed into this new wave of the future.
